Dr. Jose Luis comes to Aiken Pediatrics from Miami FL, where he practiced primary care pediatrics for 29 years, spending part of the time in Urgent Care Pediatrics at Miami Childrens Hospital. He is a graduate of Santiago de Compostela School of Medicine, Spain in 1977, receiving his training in general pediatrics at UF Shands Hospital and Clinics ( formerly University Hospital of Jacksonville FL )and Miami Childrens Hospital ( formerly Variety Childrens Hospital FL ). Dr. Luis is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He was born in Cuba in 1947 and came to Miami FL in 1962, where he has lived most of his life. Dr. Luis is fluent in both english and spanish. He enjoys flying, gardening, fishing and being around animals. He and his wife Gisela have been married for 37 years and moved to SC to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Their oldest child Alejandro is completing his surgical residency at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. Their middle child Vanessa co-owns a business in Charlston with her husband Alex. Vanessa and Alex have two children, Abigail and Samuel. Nicholas is their youngest child. He still lives at home and has a special interest in the performing arts. Last but not least Jose and Gisela have two beagles named Tina and Rosie
